Сотрудники милиции арестовали подозреваемого в краже икон в Костромской области

Criminal investigation policemen of the Russian MIA for the Kostroma Region together with their colleagues from Yaroslavl conducted a special operation, during which they detained a 33-year old man suspected of theft of icons from temples and churches of the Kostroma Region. According to the police version, the man visited remote villages and settlements of the region buying antiquities from the local residents. Alongside with his commercial activity, the malefactor looked for temples having no CCTV and alarm systems installed.

Расследуя уголовное дело полицейские МВД России по Костромской области вместе со своими коллегами из Ярославля провели специальную операцию, в ходе которой был задержан 33-летний мужчина подозреваемый в краже икон из храмов и церквей Костромской области. По версии полиции, мужчина посещал отдаленные деревни и поселки региона, скупающих предметы старины у местных жителей. Одновременно с коммерческой деятельностью, злоумышленник по деревням выискивал храмы, не имеющие установленных систем видеонаблюдения и сигнализаций.

The policemen managed to detain the suspect after another theft in the Temple of the Resurrection of Christ in village Neverovo. In the course of the search, the policemen found about 300 icons and numerous devotional articles in his garage. The confiscated valuables are being currently studied by experts.

The information about the icons has been sent to all Russian regions. In this way the policemen want to find out which of the objects of worship were stolen, and which of them were bought legally.
